Buttermilk Syrup

In LARGE sauce pan melt 1 stick butter
stir in 1 cup sugar cook 2 mins
add 1/2 cup buttermilk, Stir until well incorperated
remove from heat and add:
1 tsp corn syrup
1 tsp baking soda- will foam up (this is why you needed the LARGE pan...)
Return to heat and cook 1 min more
add 1 tsp good quality vanilla

Serve over whole wheat waffles
Store in glass jar or other air tight container in fridge up to one month
